Safety, both in the sense of protection against unintended events and protection against attacks, cannot and must not be viewed from a purely technical perspective. This has been proven by numerous incidents and accidents in recent decades. Usable man-machine interfaces and a high level of acceptance of the application systems, including the security concepts, by the users make a significant contribution to maintaining safe system states in regular operation and to restoring them as quickly as possible in exceptional operation. In this context, IMIS deals with digitization in safety-critical contexts such as energy supply, health care, and disaster control from the perspective of human-computer interaction.
